Converge release video for "No Heroes"

Converge have made their video for "No Heroes" available online.
This ambitious performance/animated video was created by Los Angeles area director, Ryan Zunkley. Using dramatic texture, lighting, and kinetic movement, Ryan assembled a vivid visual world for what the song and album represents. Successfully capturing the song's thematic battle between negative and positive.

Deathwish sign Cold World

We are proud to welcome COLD WORLD to the Deathwish affiliated family.
Wilkes Barre PA's COLD WORLD garnered world wide praise with their now classic "Iced Grillz" release on Lockin' Out in 2005. COLD WORLD have toured both in the U.S. and Europe, bringing their brand of urban influenced metallic hardcore (think early Life Of Agony and Madball with an early Hip Hop/soul addiction) to everyone within earshot. In the last year, COLD WORLD have evolved and progressed into an unstoppable and unique force, refining their brooding eclectic sound into a new kind of infectious monster.
COLD WORLD will be entering the studio in early 2K7 to record their new full length for Deathwish. More news on when and where soon. Can't take the wait? We don't blame you. You can hear a new COLD WORLD demo song and mix from Nick COLD WORLD on the new Deathwish Podcast, which now available on ITunes.

A few quick thoughts on the Brand New record

Picked it up today ...
First of all, the packaging is not all it can be, super thin paper gatefold, I hate these things, you're on a major label, do a jewel case, or a digipack. If you're trying to save plastic, well done, but anoying anyways.
No lyrics. You have to send $1 to a P.O. Box in New York for a copy of the lyrics. I'm assuming there is a good reason for this, but I haven't seen one. Anoying. Maybe they want you to download the record?
The band constantly downplays the record, saying it's a collection of recordings, it will always be incomplete (because of the demo leaks), etc ... if you don't have confidence in the music, don't release it.
The record itself is great, it's just this kind of stuff that will prevent the band from getting the exposure they deserve. Kind of a bummer.

| » | River, Bear Your Bones, is a concept recording about the band's homebase of London. You know this whole concept record craze is getting loony when it spreads to instrumental releases. Anyway... the music is as expected, full of doom and gloom, and powerful as all hell (especially the closing moments of "Broken Coffin of the Venerable"). You stream a handful of songs from the band on their MySpace page.

Austin will be rounding out the year by joining Chuck Ragan, Tim Barry, and Ben Nichols on a few dates of the Revival Tour as well as a performance at this yearÂ’s Fest. He has been writing what will be his debut for Suburban Home which he plans to record in Ohio employing his family to play and record. We hope to have this album out in March of 2009.
We are so excited to have Austin a part of our family. He has one of the greatest voices in roots music and his lyrics really cut to the core.

| » | Selective Wreckage isn't a B-sides collection, but a showcase of how the band evolved from 2006's melodic punk outburst The Troubled Stateside to 2007's opus, Crime In Stereo Is Dead. As guitarist Alex Dunne said, "Originally we planned on doing two separate 7" EP vinyl records because they were two separate sessions. The side of songs recorded after Troubled Stateside features the 3-songs from the never-released split 7"EP with CAPITAL, another recording of "When The Women Come Out To Dance" from our free EP on Nitro and "Love," a song that never made the Stateside album which I think is better than anything on that record." Discussing the flipside of the album, Dunne says that Dead was a difficult record to make and we had to leave off some songs that were really strong - but we just didn't have enough time to finish them at the time before having to leave to tour, which was frustrating. Three of these songs are more energetic and upbeat and another is really slow and sad, but I love it." Selective Wreckage can also be seen as a document of a band evolving from growing up in the Long Island hardcore and punk scene, to a band that has transcended genres without leaving their roots behind.

"UNITED NATIONS is a power-violence grind-core band reminiscent of mid-nineties groups such as ORCHID and REVERSAL OF MAN. The group features prominent members of two bands you love, one band you hate and a few you never heard of.
Shrouded in mystery and available through Eyeball Records, the debut album by United Nations will see a North American release date of September 9th, w/ limited edition packaging available exclusively through the Eyeball Records website. The album is currently streaming in its entirety on the band's Myspace page."
- This is obviously the big news of the day and probably of the week. The combination of talents from THURSDAY's Geoff Rickly, GLASSJAW's Daryl Palumbo, and CONVERGE's Ben Koller, is simply too big to cast aside with marginal interest. And the good thing is - the 11 song release totally rips, especially Rickly's uniquely melodic vocals churning through the violent undertow. Wheeee!]]>" target="_blank">Diplomatic Destruction |
