Panic
Circles

MCD/12" (Reflections)

Panic returns from the dead with an all new 6 song EP on Reflections Records. The band basically got back together after doing a reunion in Europe and still features an all-star cast that includes Gibby from The Trouble and Damian from The Explosion. Personally I think Panic are totally under hyped, mixing contemporary and often catchy emotional hardcore with the angst of an early 80s hardcore act, encompassed by Gibby’s brash and classic vocals (listen to “The Trouble”!). They seem like a sure fire band to blow up, but the inconsistency of their touring and releases has definitely hurt their ability to build a fan base. Not that it really matters, anyone who has heard Panic knows to appreciate them when they are able to tour or release new music. Comparing the former two EP’s with this one doesn’t take a lot of effort, Panic have a style and will always have a style, “Circles” seems to progress even further into classic hardcore and contemporary hardcore, almost pulling itself into two directions, but undoubtedly without flaw or coming across as contrived.
